Meadow bank Sports Centre is situated in central Edinburgh and comprises of a 25 acre complex of indoor and outdoor facilities. It hosted the Commonwealth Games of 1970 and 1986. The capacity of the stadium is 16,500. The grandstand has 7,500 seats, and uncovered benches stretch around the rest of the track. The Centre provides sport from grass roots to international standards in the form of coaching and events.
It is used commonly for sports like Football, Basketball, Track cycling, Rugby and many more... The Meadow bank velodrome is home to the East of Scotland regional track cycling academy. The wooden track is 250 meters long and built using West African timber.
Apart from the sports event the Meadow Bank stadium is also used for Annual Music Concerts. Meadow bank Stadium is filled to capacity each year when it hosts Edinburgh's largest firework display. The light show is set spectacular, with rockets shooting high above the city to the sound of music.
